Themed Activities

The theme for the Kuala Lumpur Orchid & Bonsai Show 2015 is Flora, Festival and Food. And these three key elements will be consistently reflected in the event through a number of activities that adhere to each of the three theme components.

FLORA

The items under this component of the show theme will particularly appeal to the horticulturists as well as the orchid and bonsai enthusiasts. Apart from the orchid and bonsai exhibitions, visitors will also get the chance to purchase some plants that will include orchids, bonsai, flowering (and non-flowering) plants of other species, herb plants and even fruit trees. Gardening enthusiasts will have the opportunity to purchase a wide range of gardening tools and landscaping equipment.
There will be demonstrations on floral arrangement and the art of bonsai as well as workshops on gardening. To keep the kids busy and entertained, there will be colouring and floral themed art competitions. There will also be a floral themed graffiti contest open to local graffiti artists.

FESTIVAL

To give the event a truly festive atmosphere, there will be an array of activities for visitors. Visitors can purchase a number of Malaysian Art & Craft items or even try their hand at making some themselves. For those who truly appreciate the greenery of the great outdoors there will be a floral themed photography competition, a garden hunt and an appreciation walk through the Perdana Botanical Gardens. For the keep=fit enthusiasts, there will be a fun run, group aerobic and dance sessions. Also available will be a number of water activities in the lake and for everyone’s entertainment, there will be Busker performances.

FOOD

A festival would not be complete without the food element. Visitors to the show can hang out and savour a number of local and fusion cuisine from food trucks parked along the lake at the “Lepak@Tasik” area. There will also be stalls selling local fruit and other snacks. Among the food related activities lined up for visitors are cooking demonstrations and competitions.
