Tourism Malaysia Penang Introduces Museum Pass For Tourists

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Tourism Malaysia Penang today introduced the Penang Museum Trail and Museum Adventure Pass for tourists to enjoy a discount when visiting museums in the country.

Tourism Malaysia Penang director, Harun Pilus said the move was to encourage tourists to include a visit to the museum in their travel itinerary as well as to educate tourists on Penang's museums.

The RM10 pass could be bought at 19 museums involved except the Penang State Museum starting Feb 1, he said at the launching of the pass by Penang Tourism Development and Culture Committee chairman Danny Law Heng Kiang.

Harun said with the pass which could be used by four persons at one time, tourists could get 20 per cent discount on the museum's entry fee and 10 per cent discount on the merchandise purchased. "It is transferable with validity for one year," he added.

With the pass, tourists will also get a map that provides them with a detailed guide to the various museums in Penang, such as the Penang Peranakan Museum, Batik Painting Museum, My Natural Crystal Museum and Toy Museum.
Tourists can also look forward to upcoming museums such as the Colonial Penang Museum, Teddy Ville Museum and the Train Museum.

Harun said the museum trail was part of the government's initiative to highlight Penang as an exciting tourist destination and to increase tourist arrivals in conjunction with the Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 and Visit Penang Year 2015.
