KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s state capital has made it to global online portal Huffington Post’s list of top eight places to watch the sunset.

The American-based news feeder included the coastal city of Kota Kinabalu in the list released three days ago, where the destinations were also considered among the world’s best places to spend retirement.

Columnist Kathleen Peddicord wrote, “Often overlooked in favour of more high-profile destinations nearby, Borneo’s coastal town of Kota Kinabalu offers a dramatic backdrop for sunset-viewing.

“Hit the local food market for some dumplings or noodles, grab your picnic blanket, and set up camp on the town’s beach. From that spot, you’ll have a perfect view as the 
sun falls behind Mount Kinabalu (the highest peak in Borneo),” she wrote.

Siem Reap (Cambodia), West Lake in Hangzhou (China), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Nice (France), Tralee (Ireland), Volcan (Panama) and Punta del Este (Uruguay) were the other destinations on the list.
